Interstitial Cystitis

I recently took an IC course taught by the expert herself, Nicole Cozean. It was fascinating, informative, and motivating. Now, I feel more prepared than ever to treat this diagnosis and assist patients with this chronic condition in finding solutions and feeling better.

Take-home principles: IC includes: 1. pelvic pain 2. incontinence. Medications have many side effects that are worrisome for patients’ physical and mental health and may not positively influence clients. Elimination diets may cause more stress than actually help.

Clients can improve by understanding the Dysfunction, Inflammation, and Pain cycle, being aware of flare-ups and how to manage them holistically, and learning ways to strengthen the visceral-somatic reflex, the pelvic floor, and the hip and back complex.

This approach has been proven to help patients feel better, get better, and take control of their bodies.
